Ministries

• Children's Church
  Purpose: This ministry is provided to the children of our congregation ages 4 - 8 during our worship service. It is our hope to provide enriched time for this age group as well as to give their parents the opportunity to worship without distraction.
  
  
• Children's Sermon
  Purpose: To provide a short children's sermon geared toward their age during regular Worhsip.
  
  
• Courtesy
  Purpose: To make and deliver angel food cakes to Over 80 years' birthdays and Over 50 years' anniversries. Cost is borne by WCS and Friendhsip Circle.
  
  
• Diaconate
  Purpose: To prepare and serve Communion every Sunday and for other special services; provide a Lay Leader every Sunday; visit shut-ins and provide Communion to them.
  
  
• Education - Adult
  Purpose: To provide classes for adults to come together to study God's word.
  
  
• Education - Youth
  Purpose: To provide classes for children to study God's word.
  
  
• Greeters
  Purpose: To greet church attendees and hand out the Sunday Bulletins.
  
  
• Media
  Purpose: To provide and operate the sound equipment for Sunday Services and other events as needed; utilize the media computer to provide the words of music, announcements of church activities on slides, slide shows or other needs of pastor for sermons, etc. on the overhead screen. Also record the worhsip service providing copies for several shut-ins.
  
  
• Outreach - World
  Purpose: To maintain communication with the three missionary families our church supports; maintain an Announcement Board in the Narthex with current information from and about the missionaries; arrange for visits from the missionaries when they are on leave in the U.S. Communicate with their mission organization as needed.
  
  
• Music
  Purpose: Responsible for all music presented at church each Sunday and at special services; Ministry leader selects music for choir, praise team and congregation; plays organ or keyboards for preludes and accompanying vocals; directs the choir and praise team; arranges for special music by individuals or visiting professional musicians; The Bell Choir also falls under this ministry and is directed by Charlene Nutting.
  
  
• Nursery
  Purpose: To provide care for newborns up to three years during our Worship Service.
  
  
• Office
  Purpose: To oversee the Church Office Secretary including composing the weekly bulletin and bi-monthly Newsletter, answers the phone, maintain church calendar, making photocopies and providing office skills for the pastor and other ministries.
  
  
• Prayer
  Purpose: To bring our church family together in love through prayer and to together go out into the community to reach people for Jesus.
  
  
• Property
  Purpose: To oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the church buildin and equipment including janitorial, repairs, snow removal and lawn care. Arrange for appropriate insurance; opens and closes (locks, lights, temperature) the church for School and events, etc.
  
  
• Public Relations
  Purpose: To promote activities of the church by notifying the newspapers, radio and TV stations when appropriate; providing posters, inserts for the Bulletin, articles for the Newsletter, announcements for the Lay Leader, and host special events.
  
  
• WCS
  Purpose: To develop all women in Christian living by providing Christian service, as part of the witnessing church of Jesus Christ. Service to the congregation includes providing meals for the friends and families of deceased members. Service to the community includes providing a monthly meal for about 60 for "Circles 4 Support" families or groups. Other activities include sending monthly greeting cards to shut-ins (21 in 2010); providing refreshments for the Bloodmobile once a year; help deliver Meals On Wheels, etc. Funds are acquired by fundraiser activities including an annual Bazaar and sales of pecans. Friendship Circle is a part of WCS which meets monthly.
